Mayor of Ware, Cllr. Alexander Curtis has announced that he will be putting forward a proposal to the steering group for Ware’s Neighbourhood Plan, in an attempt to ensure that the site of Fanshawe Pool and Gym continues to be used for recreational purposes; preventing any future change of use for the land to housing.
He said, “There is very little time left for local residents to respond to the East Herts consultation on its proposed district leisure strategy. It must be made clear that the people of Ware want to see Fanshawe remain in operation, as has been made evident by the many dozens of people who have written to my office on the subject. I cannot make clear enough how important it is for as many individual people as possible to respond to the consultation, which only takes a few minutes to complete. By sending a clear message to the owners of the Fanshawe site about how the pool is necessary to guarantee Ware’s sustainability as a town, I hope that my Neighbourhood Plan proposal will help to encourage dialogue between them and East Herts, to help keep Fanshawe open.”
