Grant boosts support for family and friend carers in Ware
Ware Town Council continue to award local groups with grant funding. A grant was recently provided to Carers in Hertfordshire offering support for carers, including one in Ware, that offers a space for current and recently bereaved carers to meet up, chat and support each other.
Carers in Hertfordshire offers free advice, information and support to carers of all ages in Hertfordshire.
The Ware Hub group meets on the third Friday of the month, 11.15am – 1pm, at Allenburys Sports & Social Club, Harris’s Lane, Ware. Last year 66 unpaid carers attended the Ware hub sharing their experiences, increasing their knowledge, and accessing support to feel more confident in their caring role. The charity also has online groups, get in touch for more details or to book to attend.
Hazel Howell, the charity’s Fundraising Manager said: “Thank you so much. Carers are incredibly important to our community and having this support in running our Hub enables local carers to feel less isolated and better in themselves whilst also increasing their knowledge, friendships, and giving them a well-deserved break from caring.”
Over three quarters (86%) of people who attended a Hub last year and shared feedback said it had increased their knowledge of where to get help and 67% said their confidence had improved.
