Free screening of Hard Truths at Fletcher’s Lea for Mental Health Awareness Week in May

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, Ware Town Council is offering a free screening of Hard Truths, directed by Mike Leigh on Tuesday, 13 May. Set in London, the film follows the struggles of Pansy, (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), who battles depression and a generally pessimistic outlook, and her relationship with her upbeat and lively sister, Chantelle (Michele Austin). Although often comedic and uplifting, Hard Truths delves into the deeper themes of anxiety and depression, exploring how these issues can shape and manifest in a person’s life and the impact on families. The film has been described as both outrageous and heartbreaking, showcasing the craft of a masterful director.

Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Please bring your own refreshments. Tickets will be available from 7th April and must be secured via Ticketsource.
