Ware Cemetery

Ware Cemetery is located on both sides of Watton Road, Ware. The ‘old’ part of the site, accessed from Watton Road is primarily used for the interment of cremated remains and is home to Cemetery Lodge and Chapel.

The other side of the road, the ‘new part’ is accessed from Wulfrath Way and is currently used for burials.

Ware Cemetery is managed in line with these 2022 Burial Regulations.

Interments

Interments can be arranged Monday through Friday, between 10am and 3pm.

Funeral Directors

Funeral directors handle the arrangements for burials on your behalf. Below are links to the forms that will need to be completed by the Funeral Director, and the fees. The interment form can be printed and returned by email or completed electronically (with a handwritten signature) and then returned by email to [email protected].

Interring of Ashes – Arranged Directly

Next of kin have the option to arrange the interment of ashes directly with the Council. Please contact the Cemetery Officer by emailing [email protected] to make a time to discuss your requirements. Below are links to the forms that need completing, and the fees. The Cemetery Officer will answer your queries, support you through the process and help with the completion of any paperwork.

Transferring Exclusive Rights of Burials

Only the holder of the Grant of Exclusive Rights of Burial can authorise a memorial or interment within a grave space.

When the holder of a Grant of Exclusive Right of Burial dies, it is necessary to transfer the rights to a living person. Please email the Cemetery Officer on [email protected] to make an appointment to determine what documents and forms will need to be submitted to effect a legally sound transfer.

Memorials

Stonemasons are required to apply for a permit when installing or making changes to memorials. No works are to be carried out without written permission of the Council. Below are the forms stonemasons must complete and submit to the Council. It is requested that these be submitted via email to [email protected] and that payment be made via bank transfer. An invoice will be sent to you on receipt of a correctly submitted application.

Stonemasons are asked to please review clauses 8.e., 9 and 10 of the Ware 2022 Burial Regulations. These outline regulations relating to memorials.
