Ware & Hertford Councils Unite to shape the future of local cycling
Leader of Ware Town Council, Cllr Thomas Day and Hertford Town Council’s Cllr Ann Woodward recently hosted a highly successful Cycling Round Table, attended by over 25 delegates from both town councils, local community cycling groups and representatives from Hertfordshire County Council.
The session was held at historic Ware Priory and aimed to create a vision for what the cycling communities of Hertford and Ware could look like in 2044.
Through spirited discussion, delegates brainstormed what good cycling culture looks like, identified the barriers that prevent residents from cycling more often and came up with lots of creative ideas for how each town council could do more to remove those barriers and encourage residents to take up cycling; not just for leisure, but as a healthier, cheaper, more efficient (and fun!) alternative to jumping in the car.
Cllr Thomas Day commented, “It was fantastic to have so many different groups represented in the room and hear everyone’s ideas for the future. I’m excited to be working in partnership with our neighbours in Hertford to improve access to cycling within our communities.”
