Ware Town Centre CCTV
Ensuring Safety and Security for All
In early 2023, Ware Town Council invested £35,000 to upgrade the CCTV coverage in Ware, including the replacement of all the existing cameras which were over a decade old. Additional cameras were installed in Amwell End near the railway station and in Priory Park covering the skatepark and play area.
The cameras are strategically placed to observe our key town centre public spaces, streets, and shopping areas, helping to enhance the safety of residents, visitors, and businesses. They are monitored 24/7 with a direct feed to the local police. The system operates in accordance with the highest standards of data protection and footage is stored securely. Access to recordings is strictly limited to authorised personnel and only used when necessary for public safety, crime prevention, or legal proceedings.
Why CCTV is Important
- Crime Prevention and Deterrence: CCTV acts as a visible deterrent, reducing the likelihood of crime and anti-social behaviour.
- Public Safety: Cameras are in place to help ensure the safety of everyone in the town centre. Footage can assist emergency services, identify potential hazards, and be used to quickly respond to incidents.
- Supporting Investigations: When incidents do occur, CCTV footage can provide valuable evidence to the police and other agencies, aiding investigations and court cases.
How the System Works
- Our CCTV cameras operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- All footage is monitored and recorded by trained staff in a control room, in compliance with data protection laws.
