Priory Play Park

Opening Times:

The Priory Park is open every morning from 08.00am and is closed at either 08.00pm or dusk whichever is earliest.

Location:

The Priory Park is a popular play destination situated on Priory Street in between The Ware Priory Building and The Priory Lido. The Play Park incorporates Ware Skatepark. The park has a variety of play equipment and is a great place to come and play or just relax. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables so you can sit down while your children are playing on the equipment. There is also plenty of grass to run around or play games.

Improvements to Priory Park were completed in March 2023.

Kompan were appointed to carry out the works, with the aim to re-energise the existing play area by adding modern, exciting, inclusive, challenging and age-appropriate equipment to help open up the play experience to more children. The park is zoned for ages 3-5 years and 5-12 years. Included in the younger area is a caravelle ship, seesaw, trampoline, underground tunnel, inclusive roundabout, parent and toddler swing, three seat carousel and disability swing. In the older section there is a large castle fortress with tube slide and open slide, with inclusive stair access, net access, climbing walls, firemans pole, lookout posts and a plethora of other play opportunities. Also included in this area is an exciting steel zip line, challenging agility trail, monkey bars and cocowave pendulum swing. Some remained in the park such as the much loved red horse, cradle seat swings, basket swing, supernova roundabout, green bounce, witches’ hat and the metal multi play. A new inclusive 1.2 width pathway was laid leading to the Castle.

Additional picnic tables have been added to the play area including wheelchair accessible picnic tables as well as sensory equipment such as a music panel with xylophone, bongos and sensory wheel unit.

Great efforts were made by the community to raise funds towards the improvements, £18,000 was raised through crowdfunding by The Priory Park Pioneers. Local businesses also contributed.

Kiosk

In the Priory Grounds, just in the corner behind the Skate Park there is a kiosk which is open in the summer and is a service for both the Lido and the Priory Park. So if you need a drink in the sun or fancy an ice cream in the summer there is no need to leave the park.
