Ware Priory Skatepark

Ware Skatepark is a new community facility opened in 2022.  The project saw the removal of old wooden ramps to make way for a bespoke concrete skatepark. It is  designed for existing riders and people keen to try the sport, with features suitable for all ages and abilities. Ware Town Council had allocated a budgeted amount for the scheme in 2021 but successfully secured an additional sum from Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, with the support of East Herts District Council. Section 106 funding is for projects that deliver social and community benefits and are well managed and sustainable. The park was built by Betongpark, a company with deep roots in the skateboarding community. They collaborated with the council, members of the public who attended the consultation events and also had considerable local skate scene involvement and input from Active East Herts and the Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People Youth Forum for Ware and Hertford and detached youth work team. Experts in the field like ABC Skating, XLR8 Bike School and Highway Cycles means the park is suitable for everyone.

Ware Skatepark is situated adjacent to the Priory Park Play Park in the grounds of Ware Priory. Gates are open daily  until dusk.

SkateWare Design

The renowned street artist, Charles Uzzell Edwards, better known as Pure Evil came along to the first day of opening to lend his support. He created and gifted a custom ‘Skate Ware’ design which has been reproduced on t-shirts. All proceeds go to Ware youth charities and groups.

Ware based graphic designer, Chris Page also gave up his time to create and paint a graphic mural scheme at the entrance ramps in a red, black and blue geometric pattern.
