Ware Festival 2019 begins on July 6th with Carnival Day & the Town Fair and, of course, the Lea & Stort IWA River Festival. The theme for 2019, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Moon landing is ‘Space’ so great for all your trekkies, astronomers & alien aficionados out there! We are pleased to say our beneficiaries for funds raised during 2019 are two lovely local groups – Guideposts Trust and Space Herts.
If you are planning an event during July 2018 please let us know & we will help you publicise it.
Ware Festival Parade and Stall booking forms are also available here.
We’re in the process of planning a whole month of events during July, including the Raft Race, Putting Competition, Pavement Artists Competition, Bus Pass Party and, of course, Rock in the Priory. Entry forms and info will be posted here in due course.
There is a great tradition for a fair in Ware. Robert de Quincey, Lord of the Manor, having served Henry III in the French Wars, was granted leave to hold an Annual Fair on the “eve of the Virgin Mary”.
Ware Festival has been built on this old tradition and is organised by a committee consisting of Town Councillors and representatives from local organisations and is funded by Ware Town Council.
The Ware Festival Committee organises a wide range of events throughout July; from a lively Carnival Parade, through to an Over 60s Party, The Riverside Real Ale Festival, Raft Race, Teddy Bear’s Picnic and many more besides. The Committee also supports local groups putting on their own Festival event. The objective is to stimulate civic pride and foster community spirit.
The month comes to a close with a popular day-long Rock Concert.
Visitors to Ware during July will find a packed programme of events throughout the four Festival weekends, with something for everyone. It really is ‘Ware’ its happening during July.
