Councillor Thomas Day
Leader of the Council
I am still a relative newcomer to Ware, having lived here for over 10 years now; first in Crane Mead and now in Trinity, which I am proud to represent. But, I consider myself a fully-fledged Wareite! We have such a beautiful town, with stunning scenery, a gorgeous historic high street and a strong, diverse community – we really are very fortunate and it is my aim to do everything I can as a Town Councillor to protect and improve these great assets. Having been made redundant during the first Covid lockdown, my husband and I decided to pursue a dream of ours and open a business on Ware High Street. It’s been a challenging couple of years, but the people of Ware have been hugely supportive and I feel proud to be part of a thriving community of independent businesses in the town. Being a Town Councillor is extremely important to me as it provides me the opportunity, in some small way, to contribute to my community and hopefully make a positive difference. I feel very grateful and humbled to have been re-elected to Ware Town Council in May’s local elections. Even more so to have been chosen by my colleagues on the Council to become Mayor of Ware for the year. To say that this is a huge honour would be somewhat of an understatement – all I can say is that I will do my very best over the coming year (and beyond) to prove myself worthy of this office and to do what I can to support this town and its residents.
